Three-Person Exhibition

IMAGINE           BLACK&WHITE           RIGHTS
BROOK YANLIN:
This man can be funny.
If you feel like crying, do it here,
Let's lean to the right, Maybe here is the safe zone.
Those in front have already been engulfed, While those behind are gradually fading away.
One person's body faces forward, looking to the left, Another person, hands listlessly resting on their thighs.
I used to think these fantasies were real, But I've never thought of them as false.
Now I can only believe that they once existed, I am in refuge.
This is a utopia.
YIQI TAN:
To live is to face a multitude of situations—each choice leading to a different experience. As human beings, we respond to everything through the lens of past understanding.
The complexity of human nature often demands layers of self-restraint, and emotions flood in only after the fact.
The larger environment has long since drifted away from the natural order. Yet when one stands alone before grass and trees, all layers fall away, and the human essence reveals itself, unadorned.
Social rules shape our relative development, but in painting—once understanding and intention are in place—there remains a kind of freedom. Thought is refined over and over in the mind; the image is altered again and again. There is room for experimentation, for the unknown.
Each texture carries its necessity. In the end, the work emerges in a form that, to the artist, feels quietly and precisely complete.
ZHEQI HU:
I have no interest in merely reproducing appearances—it feels utterly dull to me.
I seek to break free from the limitations that visible forms impose on thought, allowing the senses to extend into the image itself.
Beyond the surface of technique, I choose to forget technique—to enter a state of emptiness where boundless creativity becomes possible.
Between figuration and abstraction, between reality and imagination, between stillness and motion, between the present and what is yet to come, between the space of thought and the truth of insight—I search for contradiction.
To me, this is not some distant illusion, but something that can be given real, tangible life.
